Bangladeshi nano satellite to be in orbit mid 2017

A group of BRAC university students is going to launch countries first nano satellite in orbit at the mid of next year in cooperation with Japan.
To complete the mission the BRAC University signed a memorandum of understanding with Kyushu Institute of Technology in Japan on Wednesday on BRAC University campus in the capital’s Mohakhali.
Vice-chancellor of BRAC University Prof Syed Saad Andaleeb and counsellor of Japan embassy Mitsutake Numahata signed the contract on behalf of the respective countries.
Organisers said that Bangladesh would be benefited in various ways by the satellite, including space technology transfer, observing space environment, taking high quality aerial photograph of land, audio signal for communication and HAM radio signal during emergency.
The nano satellite ‘Annesha 3B’ is being built under Japan government’s ‘Joint Global Multi-Nation BIRDS Satellite,’ shortly ‘BIRDS Project’, a cross-bordering interdisciplinary project.
The two-year project also included Ghana, Mongolia and Nigeria.
On behave of Bangladesh, BRAC University students—Abdulla Hil Kafi, Raihana Shams Islam Antara and Maisun Ibn Monowar are working for the nano satellite.
The nano satellite set to be launch on May 2017 where as the government plans to launch ‘Bangabandhu Satellite’ on December 16, 2017.
Director general of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission Md Nasim Pervez said before Bangabandhu Satellite which would be launched in December, this is very important to get experience.
‘We will earn money one day by providing satellite facilities to others,’ he hoped.
