Shaukat Mahmud freed on bail
After 10 months into his arrest, Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson’s adviser and journalist leader Shaukat Mahmud was released from jail on bail on Wednesday.
He walked out of Kashimpur Central Jail Part-2 in the afternoon after his release order reached the jail authorities, said jail super Proshanto Kumar Banik, United News of Bangladesh reports.
On June 14, the High Court granted bail to Shaukat Mahmud in two cases filed against him for his involvement in subversive activities.
On August 18, 2015, police arrested the journalist leader in Panthapath area of the capital.
