Banking sector thriving on strong economy: PM
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday said the country’s banking sector is thriving on the strong national economy.
‘The banking sector is expanding day by day as the country’s economy has now got a strong ground,’ she said.
The prime minister was receiving cheques from Bangladesh Association of Banks and power, energy and mineral resources ministry donated to the prime minister’s relief and welfare fund at her official residence Ganabhaban.
Chairmen and managing directors of the banks handed over the cheques of their respective banks to the prime minister while adviser to the prime minister Towfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury and state minister Nasrul Hamid handed over the cheque on behalf of power, energy and mineral resources ministry.
The prime minister thanked them for donating the money as they always do.
She mentioned that this money will not only be distributed among the poor and needy people but also among students to help them continue their education and help poets and artistes during their bad time.
Talking about the thriving banking sector in the country, the prime minister said that people are now very much interested to avail themselves of banking services and mentioned the Tk 10 bank account for the farmers through which the government distributes subsidy among them.
She hoped that the trade and business of the country will run well as the government has taken numerous steps for the convenience of businesspeople.
