Industries asked to help BCSIR
Scientists called upon the industries of feed, animal health, food processing, marketing and pharmaceuticals to help Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research through conducting researches and laboratory tests of their products.
Proper examinations of the industry products should be done for the betterment of the public health as well as for goodness of their business, they said.
They made the call while speaking at a seminar on research and services of animal laboratory for biomedical and toxicological research-project at BCSIR conference room on Tuesday.
Science and Technology minister Yafes Osman who attended the seminar as chief guest urged the industries to come forward to provide support to the BCSIR conducting different tests at its laboratories.
He said that the BCSIR could help the industries through certifications that could help their products enter into international markets.
The minister urged the senior research scholars to guide the new generation researchers to take the country ahead in researches.
Speaking as special guest, Jahangirnagar University professor M Shahabuddin Kabir Choudhuri said that people remained in panic about taking food items due to widespread contamination and adulteration of foods.
Poultry feeds are controversial due to chromium and the feed association can test their products to ensure supply of good products, he said.
Shahabuddin also said that the halal test of the food and other commercial products must be done from the BCSIR for betterment of public health and also for business purposes.
BCSIR board member Nazrul Islam, who is also a professor at Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology, stressed on self motivation of the people to keep away from adulteration of foods and other products.
He called upon the young researchers to prepare projects considering the country’s people and national interest.
