Another Hindu priest hacked in Satkhira

Yet another Hindu priest came under machete attack as assailants hacked and left him injured at Brahmarajpur in Satkhira early Saturday.
The fresh attack bore the hallmark of recent killings and attacks on bloggers, activists, intellectuals, spiritual leaders and religious minorities.
The attack was carried out at the same time while another incident of taking a number of people including foreigners hostage at a Spanish restaurant in Gulshan diplomatic zone in Dhaka was continuing.
The attack came after a Hindu monastery worker was hacked to death near the monastery in Jhenaidah on Friday morning, and a Buddhist community leader was killed in a similar attack at a bordering village of Naikhyangchari in Bandarban hill district on Thursday night.
Police said a gang of five to six miscreants chopped Bhabasindhu Bar, 50, priest of Brahmarajpur Sri Sri Radha Gobinda Temple, around 3:30am inside the temple.
He was admitted to Satkhira General Hospital in critical condition.
Before they stormed the temple, the miscreants beat its two security guards — Babu and Yunus — and tied them up.
All of the miscreants were masked and carried out the attack by breaking open the door. They came here by walking, police said.
Brahmarajpur union parishad chairman Md Shahidul Islam said the priest used to live in a room inside the temple along with her wife Sumitra Bar and their
five-year-old son Jagannath Bar.
He was hacked in front of them, Shahidul said.
Assistant sub-inspector Shawkat Ali, in charge of Brahmarajpur police camp, said some of the assailants wore shorts and vests. The priest received injury marks at his head, back and chest.
Satkhira sadar police officer-in-charge Emdadul Haq Sheikh said drives were on to arrest the assailants.
