Ershad urges govt to hold dialogue with political parties
Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad on Saturday urged the government to hold a dialogue with political parties to free the country from ‘instability’.
At a rally in front of the party’s central office in the capital he said outsiders could lend advice but the government is responsible for holding meetings with other parties to find a way out of the situation.
‘Earlier, in the parliament, I asked the government to hold a national dialogue with the political parties to rescue the country from severe crisis, which the government has failed to do,’ he added.
He said he was shocked after reading news that another country had wanted to send troops into Bangladesh during the Gulshan hostage crisis.
‘When another state sends troops to face only five terrorists, we should commit suicide,’ he said.
From the meeting he asked his party activists to work towards the next general election as people were now ready to accept a Jatiya Party-led government.
‘If the people give me another chance, I will give them peace, security and comfort,’ he said.
Among others, Jatiya Party leaders Rowshan Ershad, GM Quader, Mashiur Rahman, Ziauddin Ahmed, Ruhul Amin Howlader and Abu Hossain Babla also spoke at the rally.
