Ajoy Dasgupta (10 January 1959) is a Bangladeshi Writer and Columnist. He is famous for writing rhymes in the seventies. He is the inevitable name of rhyme literature of Bangladesh. Then in the eighties he became interested in poetry. In 1984 he won the National Award for Poetry. From LittleMag to the National Daily, he tended to write poetry in ongoing writing. Originally, after fall of Ershad when media and newspapers were opened, he made his debut as a columnist in that golden age of media. Now his column is essential in the media of Bangladesh and plays a role in shaping public opinion. Although he has lived in Australia with immigration for more than two decades, his presence in the national media is almost daily. In the world of ongoing writing, the name is active and very popular on social media also. Poetry, prose, especially the memoirs commemorating the talented Bengalis, he has already taken his place. The number of his books is limited due to laziness and reluctance. According to the author, he is a follower of Wahidul Haque, Abul Hasan or Helal Hafeez. Needless to say, Ajay Dasgupta's poems are popular among the readers.
Ajoy was born in Chittagong City. His father was a Bank officer and mother was a house wife, who was born in a highly educated family of Comilla. Ajoy done his graduation from Chittagong University. His school and college life also was in Chittagong and had place in the merit list of the than Comilla Board. He also done his study in Sydney University, Australia under International peace and Conflicts.
Ajoy have done research on Australian life and politics. Also his political commentary always have its places in Bangladesh Media. He was a contributor for Daily Janankantha as SydneY's mail bag for last 20 years. Almost every Bengali dailies published his write ups. Ajoy have total 8 publications included Columns prose poems and rhymes.
Ajoy currently working as Examination Supervisor and conducting professional and many other exams for universities of Australia.
Ajoy’s wife is Deepa DasGupta. She is from Chittagong who has done her Master's in Zoology and currently working as a pre-school educator in Sydney.
