Muhammad Abdul Mazid (born 12 July 1953) is a retired Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh and former Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR). He served as the Chairman of Chittagong Stock Exchange Ltd. (CSE). He is Senior Vice Chairman of South Asian Federation of Exchanges (SAFE and the Chief Coordinator of the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh.

Mazid was born in Shatkhira district. He completed his BA (Hons) and MA in English literature from Dhaka University and pursued further education in Oxford University, UK. He did his PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) in Social Science in 2009 from Victoria University, Delaware, USA.

Mazid started his career with Bangladesh Bank (1974-1980) and joined the Bangladesh Civil Service as BCS Audit and Accounts cadre in 1981. Prior to retiring as the Secretary of in the Ministry of Finance (MoF) he worked in many senior positions of the Public Services. He was the Chief Coordinator of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (2010–2017), Chairman of Chittagong Stock Exchanges Limited (2014–2017), Chairman of South Asian Federation of Exchanges (2014–2017), Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh, Internal Resources Division (IRD), Ministry of Finance, Chairman of National Board of Revenue (NBR) (2007–2009), Member of Physical Infrastructure Division and Power Sector under Planning Commission (2007–2009), Additional Secretary of Banking Wing, Finance Division, Ministry of Finance (2005–2007), Deputy and Joint Secretary of Budget wing, Finance Division, Ministry of Finance (2002–2005), Director of Policy and Planning & Foreign Investment, Board of Investment Prime Minister’s Office (2000–2002), Commercial Counsellor of Bangladesh Embassy Tokyo, Japan (1994– 000), Director of Foreign Aid Budget and Accounts Economic Relations Division (ERD), Ministry of Finance (1990–1994), National Project Director, Debt Management and Financial Analysis, System Project (a UNCTAD project and sponsored by local UNDP) (1990–1994), Director of Civil Audit Directorate, Bangladesh Audit Department (1990–1990), Chief Accounts Officer of Internal Resources Division Ministry of Finance (1986–1990).

Mazid worked with UN Board of Auditors in UN HQ, NY, was a member of the Aid Harmonization Committee representing the Asia Pacific Group in OECD, Paris and was inducted in the Draft Committee of the Paris Declaration, 2005.

Mazid has had over 28 years' experience of working in the public finance sector. He has been a member of the International Training and Development (ITD), UK, a resource person in the Govt. training academies like Bangladesh Public Administration Training Center, National Defense College, Civil Service College, Bangladesh Bank Training Academy etc. He has been a visiting faculty in the Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) and University of Information Technology and Science (UITS).

Mazid authored 28 books on literature and Socio-economic cultural diplomacy.
