Nine killed in police raid in Kalyanpur
At least nine alleged extremists were killed in a ‘gunfight’ between police and extremists in the capital’s Kalyanpur on early Tuesday, police said.
A huge contingent of security forces had cordoned off the multi-storey residential building following gunfight between police and extremists.
Police said they had arrested a member of the Islamist extremist group wounded and admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Police believed it was a den of an Islamist group and many were still hiding inside the building.
‘We have overpowered and destroyed them,’ additional police commissioner of Dhaka, Sheikh Maruf Hasan, told New Age.
