The prosecution on Monday pressed eight charges against detained Forkan Mallik, an alleged member of Razakar Bahini in Patuakhali, before the International Crimes Tribunal-2, for his crimes against humanity in 1971.Prosecutor Mokhlesur Rahman Badal submitted the formal charges against Forkan, now 63, through the registrar’s office.The charges against the war crimes suspect include mass killing, murder, rape, abduction, confinement, looting, arson attack and deportation. These crimes had taken place at Mirzaganj of Patuakhali.The prosecution alleged that the accused who hailed from village Chailabunia of Mirzaganj was a Muslim League supporter during the liberation war and formed Razakar Bahini to commit crimes against humanity.The ICT-2 that heard on the charges from the prosecutor against the accused, set November 30 to give its decision if it will take the charges into cognizance.The War Crimes Investigation Agency probed the allegations against the accused from June 25 to October 27 and submitted the investigation report and documents related to the case to the chief prosecutor, accordingly.Forkan was arrested by detective branch of police on June 25 from Rupatali bus stand in Barisal on war crimes charges.
