OC dies during a Sylhet clash

The Osmani Nagar police officer-in-charge, Mostafizur Rahman, died from cardiac arrest during a clash between two groups of CNG-run auto-rickshaw workers’ union at Goala Bazar of Osmani Nagar in Sylhet on Wednesday afternoon.Nur-e Alam Mina, the superintendent of police in Sylhet, confirmed the death news quoting the physicians of Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital.Mostafizur Rahman died of heart attack at around 3:45pm while he was undergoing treatment at the hospital, Mina said.Earlier on the day, the two factions of the workers’ union engaged in a clash at Goala Bazar at around 10:30am as a faction taking a under the banner of South Goala Bazar auto-rickshaw workers’ union tried to set up a new stand of auto-rickshaw there, said Nazmul Hasan, additional superintendent of police in Sylhet.


The Osmani Nagar police led by Mostafizur rushed to the spot and dispersed the workers by charging batons.In its sequel, the same faction blocked Dhaka-Sylhet highway at around 12:30pm that erupted another clash with police.Mostafizur Rahman became sick then and rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital, he said.
