10 additional HC judges take oath of office

Ten new additional High Court judges took oath of office on Thursday. The chief justice, SK Sinha, administered the oath of office to Justice SM Muzibur Rahman, Justice Farid Ahmed Shibli, Justice Amir Hossain, Justice Khizir Ahmed Chowdhury, Justice Razik-Al-Jalil, Justice Jyotirmoy Narayan Deb Choudhury, Justice Bhishmadev Chakraborty, Justice Iqbal Kabir, Justice Md Selim and Justice Md Shohrowardi at Supreme Court auditorium at about 10:30am. Among the judges, Justice SM Muzibur Rahman was a retired district judge, Justice Farid Ahmed Shibli and Justice Amir Hossain were district judges, Justice Razik-Al-Jalil, Justice Bhishmadev Chakraborty, Justice Md Selim, and Justice Md Shohrowardi were deputy attorneys general, and Justice Khizir Ahmed Chowdhury, Justice Iqbal Kabir, and Justice Jyotirmoy Narayan Deb Choudhury were Supreme Court lawyers before their elevation to the bench. On February 9, the president appointed the additional judges for two years. With the latest appointment, the number of High Court judges reached to 99.
