Dhaka won’t bow to outside pressures, says Menon

Workers Party of Bangladesh on Saturday said the country is not in a position that it would bow to the illicit interference by others into its domestic affairs.
He criticised the western diplomats’ desire to have president Abdul Hamid’s appointment (to discuss Bangladesh’s internal matters).’
Menon, also the civil aviation and tourism minister, said Bangladesh Nationalist Party is criticising the search committee purposefully to make the next general election controversial.
‘BNP is making advance excuses centring the search committee as they know that they are going to be defeated in the next general polls,’ WPB president said, addressing a meeting.
The party’s Dhaka city unit organised the meeting at the Shaheed Asad Auditorium in the capital. 
Workers Party is an ally to the incumbent government.
The next general election is due in 2019 and that the incumbent Election Commission’s tenure expires in the second week of February. 
Presided by WP’s Dhaka city unit president, Abul Hossain, the party secretary Fazle Hossain Badsha and other leaders also spoke at the session.
