City polls 48 collect nomination forms on Friday.
Aspirant candidates in the coming city corporation polls collected nomination forms from the returning officers, office on Friday which is a government holiday.
A total 48 candidates collected nomination forms from the three returning officers’ (RO) office on Friday, which was the second day for collecting nomination forms.
Returning officer of Dhaka North city, Md Shah Alam said that 17 aspirant candidates collected nomination forms from their office. Of which 16 for general ward councilor posts and one for reserved seat for councilor.
Mihir Sarwar Murshed, RO of Dhaka South city told New Age 20 candidates collected forms for general ward councilors post on Firday.
In Chittagong city, a total 11 candidates collected nomination forms on Friday. Of which, 9 for general councilors’ post and two for reserved seat councilor’s post.
From Thursday, the Election Commission started distributing the nomination forms. A total 60 forms were collected from the three returning officers’ office on Thursday.
The EC on March 18 declared the three returning officers’ name for the upcoming three city polls of Chittagong, Dhaka South and Dhaka North cities.
The three ROs are Mihir Sarwar Murshed for Dhaka South City, Md Shah Alam for Dhaka North City and Md Abdul Baten for Chittagong city.
The three RO offices are situated at Mahanagar Nattyamancha Gulistan for DSC, 67 Agargaon Thana Election Office for DNC and 517/A, Jubilee Road, Enayet Bazar for Chittagong city polls.
During nomination forms collection, an aspirant candidate needs to collect the CD of his area’s voter list from the ROs. Earlier, on March 18, chief election commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad declared the election schedule, by setting April 28 as the date for polls of three cities – Chittagong, Dhaka South and Dhaka North city.The CEC said that aspirant candidates could collect and file nominations till March 29. Nomination papers would be scrutinised from April 1 to April 2.
Candidates could withdraw their candidature till April 9. EC would allocate symbols for the three city polls on April 10.
