In her scripted answer to a question from ruling Awami League lawmaker Selina Jahan Lita during the prime minister’s question-answer session, Hasina said that Myanmar had to find out the solution to the problem as the origin of the crisis was in Myanmar.
She said that bilateral discussion had started with Myanmar, the home minister had visited the Buddhist-majority country while the foreign minister went to Myanmar and would discuss on the issue.
The world leaders are playing special role in mounting pressure on Myanmar and have stood beside Bangladesh, the prime minister claimed.
She said that 6.24 lakh Rohingyas entered Bangladesh between August 25 and October 28 fleeing persecution by Myanmar armed forces.
Presently over 10 lakh Rohingyas, including 4 lakh Rohingyas who have entered before August 25, are now staying in Bangladesh, she said.
Hasina said that biometric registration of 11,000 Myanmar citizens was being accomplished in a day on an average.
She expressed hope that the registration would be completed by December 12.
She mentioned that the registration of Myanmar citizens taking shelter in Bangladesh began from September 11.
Registration of over 5.99 lakh Rohingyas was completed till November 20, she added said.
Replying to a question from Muhammad Mizanur Rahman, the prime minister, in the scripted answer, said that all atrocities including killing launched on Rohingyas in Myanmar was one of the horrible killings of the world.
Replying to another question from opposition lawmaker Nurul Islam Milon, she said that there would be no such shortage of overall production of food grains despite some losses caused to crops by flood this year.
She said that the government had taken various activities for extending assistance to the affected farmers.
Replying to a supplementary question from Jatiya Party lawmaker Fakhrul Imam, the prime minister said that sometimes she could not get time more than three hours and a half to sleep at night due to work pressure.
Hasina, also the leader of the house, said that she engaged in bringing welfare for the people risking her life.
Fakhrul wanted to know Hasina’s feelings in response to a survey of People and Politics that ranked her third on the list of the honest heads of governments.
Fakhrul also observed that Hasina failed to secure the first or second position because of allegations of corruptions against her government.
Hasina said that the heads of the government of Germany and Japan [honest head of govt] and China, Iran and Turkey [most active heads of government] who topped the list, did not face oppression, torture and imprisonment like she had to go through.
