Lowest temperature recorded at 2.6˚C in Panchagarh

The lowest temperature of 2.6 degrees Celsius in 50 years gripped Tetulia upazila in Panchagarh on Monday morning, hitting poor people hard.

Zakir Hossain, an official at the Tetulia meteorological observatory office, said the mercury fell to 2.6 degrees Celsius in the morning.

The lowest temperature in the country's history was recorded at 2.8 degrees Celsius in Srimangal in 1968.
 
Besides, Bangladesh Meteorological Department recorded 2.9 degrees Celsius at Saidpur and 3 degrees Celsius at Dimla in Nilphamari this morning.

Poor people, particularly the farmers and rickshaw-pullers, have been suffering badly as a cold wave is sweeping different parts of the country for the last few days. Children and elderly people have been the worst victims. 

Besides, the lowest temperature in Dhaka was recorded 9.5 degrees Celsius in the morning.
