3 held for distributing anti-Modi leaflets
Three activists of Jatiya Mukti Council, a leftist organisation, were arrested on Wednesday while they were distributing leaflets opposing Indian prime minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Bangladesh.
The arrested were Suman Mallik, Obaidul Bhuiyan and Farman. Police arrested them while they were chanting anti-Modi slogans and distributing the leaflets in front of the National Press Club area at 5:00pm, said acting officer-in-charge of Shahbagh police station, Abu Bakar Siddiq.
In the leaflets, the Indian PM was blamed for genocide in Gujarat of India and for instigating religious extremism and violence in the country, he added.
