AL men misbehave with Bogra UNO, vandalise office

Ruling Awami League men misbehave with the Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Bogra sadar and vandalised furniture of her office allegedly for withholding the demi-official letter to release rice meant for food for work. Witnesses and sources in the UNO office said four tonnes of rice was allocated for repairing a road of Rajapur union and half of the allocated rice was released earlier. As the road was repaired under another government project, no new repair work was done and as the matter was informed to the UNO Shahana Akhter, she withheld the DO letter, they said. As union Parishad member Abdul Mannan, along with AL men, went to the upazila project implementation officer demanding release of the remaining two tonnes of rice, the officer directed them to the UNO, they said. Later, the AL men, led by Upazila AL president Abu Sufian and Mannan, went to the UNO office, pressured her to release the rice and asked the social welfare officer to go out from the UNO’s room, they alleged. As the UNO protested at the AL men’s conduct, the AL men misbehaved with the UNO and vandalised furniture of the office and left the room, they said. The Upazila AL president Abu Sufian claimed that his men became angry with the UNO as she asked him to go out of her office and ‘vandalised only the flower vase’.
