DLA demand Pak apology for 1971 genocide
Leaders of the Democratic Left Alliance, a combine of eight left leaning political parties, on Saturday called on the Awami League led government to take up a stronger stand against the government of Pakistan for denying their part in the genocide during the war of independence of Bangladesh in 1971.
The government of Pakistan must seek pardon for taking part in the genocide in 1971, then East Pakistan, they said.
The DLA held a rally in front of the National Press Club, protesting at Pakistan’s recent denial of their role in the genocide in 1971.
Saiful Huq, the general secretary of the Revolutionary Workers Party and also the leader of the combine, called on the Awami League led government to take more steps against the Pakistani government for their audacity to stand against the war of independence of Bangladesh and favouring the war criminals of Bangladesh by taking their sides during the execution of the verdict of the International Crimes Tribunal.
Abdus Satter, the central leader of the United Communist League, chaired the rally and said the Pakistani government had intervened in the internal affairs of Bangladesh, so our government should consider cutting diplomatic relations with the Pakistan government.
Leaders of the combine, Abdus Salam, Hamidul Haque, Fakhruddin Kabir Atique, Shahidul Islam Sabuj and others spoke at the rally.
