Fellows protest at intern physician’s ‘disappearance’ in city
Intern physicians of Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital staged a protest in front of the hospital at Shyamoli on Saturday against ‘disappearance’ of an intern doctor on Friday.
The half-an-hour protest created traffic jam on the busy Mirpur road around 12:30pm.
Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station inspector (investigation) Sabbir Ahmed said intern physician Shamim Khan Tapu had reportedly gone ‘missing’ since Friday noon.
‘Tapu was allegedly pushed into a microbus by some unidentified men around Friday noon’, he said quoting a protester.
The hospital authority conveyed Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police the matter verbally without filing any case or general diary, the inspector said.
The physicians withdrew their protest after the hospital authority and police assured them of doing their best to rescue the missing man, the inspector said.
