Univs to face action for failing criteria: Nahid
Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Wednesday warned that the government would take actions against the private universities those would not be able to fulfil all the criteria within a year.
He made the warning while addressing the fifteenth convocation of East West University as chief guest held on the university’s permanent campus at Aftabnagar in the capital.
A total of 1311 undergraduate and graduate students of the university were conferred degrees.
University Grants Commission chairman Abdul Mannan, addressing the convocation as special guest stated that the private universities ought to provide scholarships to facilitate the financially insolvent meritorious students.
Educationist and writer Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, addressing as the convocation speaker, advised the graduate students that there was no success in life without failure as success comes after a lot of failed attempts.
He urged them not to lose hope but to be optimistic in practical life. EWU board of trustees’ chairperson Mohammed Farashuddin, vice-chancellor M M Shahidul Hassan, among others, addressed at the programme.
