JS goes into session, to continue till May 5
The 10th Jatiya Sangsad went into its tenth session at 5:00pm Sunday with speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
The day’s proceedings began with recitation from the Holy Quran, reports Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.
At the outset of the first sitting of the 10th session, speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudury nominated a five-member panel of chairmen to preside over the sessions in absence of the speaker and the deputy speaker in the house.
The members are: Ali Ashraf, AB Tajul Islam, Waresat Hossain Belal, Fakhrul Imam and Safura Begum.
The above mentioned lawmakers will chair the sittings of the House as per numerical order.
Meanwhile, the Business Advisory Committee of the current parliament decided to continue the session till May 5.
The decision came at the 10th meeting of the committee.
Each working day the session will start at 5:00pm.
The meeting also decided that the Speaker will be able to extend or reduce the working days of the current session.
Leader of the house and prime minister Sheikh Hasina, opposition leader Raushon Ershad, PM’s special envoy and JP chairman HM Ershad, commerce minister Tofail Ahmed, law minister Anisul Huq, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, deputy speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah, Abul Hasnat Abdullah, civil aviation minister Rashed Khan Menon, chief whip ASM Firoz and Main Uddin Khan Badal attended the meeting.
