Teachers help leaking question: Nahid
Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Monday said that a section of teachers were helping to leak question just before beginning of exams.
‘Some teachers are engaged in inappropriate acts,’ Nahid said at a dialogue on education budget in the capital.
‘We need to reach question papers before two hours of an exam. Questions are posted on Facebook at 9:30am while exam begins at 10:00am,’ said Nahid while allegations were there that biology first paper and second paper questions of the ongoing Higher Secondary Certificate exams were leaked before the exams.
Guardians alleged that they found questions on walls of different Facebook users before the exams.
Nahid said that teaching was a respectable profession and if they were engaged in such activities, how the government would stop question leak.
During Secondary School Certificate exams in February-March and HSC exam that begin on April 1, Nahid said time and again that the government had taken all out efforts to check question leak.
On August 5, 2015, Transparency International Bangladesh found that 63 question papers of public examinations were leaked in the past four years and the criminal activities could not be checked because of government’s denial of question leaks.
The corruption watchdog came up with the findings in its study on ‘Question leaks in public examinations: process, cause and remedy.’
The study said that a quarter of government employees, coaching centres, guidebook businessmen, some activists of the ruling party-backed student organisation and some teachers were involved in the question leaks in four public examinations.
In Bangladesh students need to take four public exams – Primary Education Completion Examination after Class V, Junior School Certificate Examination after Class VIII, Secondary School Certificate Examination after Class X and Higher Secondary Certificate after Class XII.
