NSU teacher, 3 others remanded for eight days
A Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on Sunday granted eight days remand to interrogate a North South University teacher, his nephew and the caretaker of his building, and another house owner for renting out house to militants without keeping information about them.
Metropolitan magistrate Tashruzzaman passed the order after police produced North South University life-science faculty dead Gias Uddin Ahasan, his nephew Alam Chowdhuary and caretaker Mahabubur Rahman, and owner of 441/8 West Shewrapara house Md Nurul Islam.
The attackers to a Gulshan restaurant and Sholakia Eidgah had reportedly rented the houses of Ahasan and Nurul.
Giasddin Ahasan said he was not the pro-vice chancellor of North South University rather his name was proposed by the university for the position and it was yet to be approved by the University Grants Commission and the Prime Minister’s Office.
He said his nephew was responsible for renting out the flat which actually owned by his wife.
At least 29 people, including 17 foreigners, were killed as Gunman attacked the Spanish restaurant on July 1.
Three other people, including two cops, were killed when gunman attacked a police checkpoint near Sholakia Eid congregation on July 7.
North South University students were allegedly involved in both attacks.
